What you'll find here

Welcome to this jumble sale of writings, musings, observations and inspirations: I hope you find something to help you on your journey home.  It's all storytelling, in the end. That's how we understand things; the stories of who we are, where we came from, where we're headed. The stories of other people, how they came to be who they are, which stories shaped them, why our stories sometimes run parallel, and sometimes clash.

When we're motivated enough, we can change our stories, write new outcomes for ourselves and our people, our planet. All it takes is imagination, where there are, genuinely, no limits.

Warmest regards

    Jade Goody - sacrificial victim

I sincerely hope this poor young woman rests in peace, but I have never wtnessed in my lifetime such a spectacle - a sacrificial victim created out of obscurity by venal, voyeuristic television, paraded in front of a venomous audience, who finally turned on her with a hostility that recalls the baying mobs that watched Christians being fed to lions in ancient Rome.

They even had the gall to film some of her final illness, which in my view is largely of their own making, then to turn the whole sorry saga into a hand-wringing cancer awareness-fest, proclaiming her a saint at the end without a hint of public irony.  Some misdirected young producer is probably arranging as we speak for a webcam to be installed in her coffin, so we can watch her return to dust.

It makes me ashamed to be a member of the human race, and I hope to God that some media people, somewhere, are quietly repenting and turning their power and influence towards something worthwhile. This could be a life-changing moment for someone. We should all pray for her children.
